Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Excellent friendly staff. Food great. Suite was stunning. Would definately visit again - the sooner the better!
Staff were lovely, hotel was gorgeous, setting was beautiful and food was amazing. My colleague and I had a luxurious dinner, a good night's sleep and a delicious breakfast to set us off on our working day. I would definitely return with my partner for a weekend to enjoy the spa facilities, the surrounding countryside and the food!
Excellent facilities in an impressive building in very pleasant surroundings. A friendly welcome and the room surpassed our expectations. Very good value for money.
The location and standard of accommodation were excellent. Although a last minute booking for just one night, we would definitely stay again.
The shower's power did not live up to expectations and my husband's bath took well over half an hour to run - being a plumber he put the fault down to the pipes being too narrow.
Excellent breakfast. One of the best I have had in a hotel
I arrived at 9.15pm. The hotel had been informed I would arrive around 9 but there was no one in reception and it took ages to book in. But staff were very virtuous and friendly. Description on bookings.com said free wifi everywhere in hotel but was only available on ground floor.
I was placed in a suite which was a nice surprise, for no extra cost. The food was fantastic and the bed was very comfortable.
Although the food is not to be missed, your dining experience does take a long time, You book a table for 7, however you may not get seated until 7:45 and therefore dont each until 8pm. Also my cooked breakfast took about 45 mins to arrange. I would not recommend that you eat here if you are in a rush.
The Gisborn Suite wa sfantasti.Bed brill and bath outstanding and lovely and quiet too
I relaxing location and hotel, with quality food and service.
Shower room / toilet was old.
From check in to check out, the whole experience was excellent, we can highly recommend this hotel.
great value country house hotel, modern rooms, good bathrooms, excellent food
Set in beautiful countryside a wonderful 16 th century mannor house , the stirk house is a little gem . We got married there 12 years ago and go back for our anniversary when we can get in as it's so popular . Staff are so friendly and helpful , rooms are clean but also very special , especially the suits with spa baths and huge beds . The food is to die for and with lovely extras to make it special . Breakfast is anything you like from poached smoked haddock xbd eggs to full breakfast . Close to clitheroe a lovely town, wonderful walks and spectacular pendle hill is a must. We would go there every year if we could .
Staff where extremely helpful and pleasant breakfast was award winning delicious fish compliments to the chef
The hotel looked fantastic from the outside a bit disappointed with the inside all the carachter had been removed by lining the walls and the ceilings I was expecting to be the old walls and features still to be there which unfortunately had been removed.
To warm in bedroom difficult adjusting radiator. Difficult adjusting shower thus to cold water
The service from the staff was excellent and the leisure centre attached was also very good.Food was ecellent and value for m money
The whole character and atmosphere of the hotel is fantastic. Being able to relax in front of the log fire before and after dinner is wonderfull. I used to stay in this hotel regularly many years ago because of it's location and because of the whole relaxed ambiance of the hotel. This was the first time I have been back in 10 years and I can honestly say that it has got better.
Having to pay for the WiFi
